Mickey Mouse, an amusing animal cartoon character, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company. Conceived by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at the Walt Disney Studios in 1928, he is depicted as an anthropomorphic mouse sporting red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves. Known worldwide, Mickey is easily recognizable. Initially seen in a test screening short called “Plane Crazy,” Mickey officially debuted in the groundbreaking sound cartoon “Steamboat Willie” in 1928. He has starred in more than 130 films, with notable appearances in “The Band Concert” (1935), “Brave Little Tailor” (1938), and “Fantasia” (1940). While predominantly featured in short films, Mickey has also made appearances in some feature-length films. Notably, ten of his cartoons were nominated for the prestigious Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, and “Lend a Paw” secured the honor in 1942. In a significant milestone, Mickey received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978, making him the first cartoon character to achieve this recognition.
